They’re failing because they’re distracted ⚠️
Let that sink in...
According to PwC’s latest Global CEO Survey, leaders spend 47% of their time on issues with a horizon of less than one year… and only 16% on the long term
At the same time:
• Confidence in short-term growth is declining 📉
• Threats are increasing (cyber, geopolitics, volatility) 🌍
• And more than half of CEOs see no financial return from AI yet 🤖
So what’s really going on?
We’re not facing a capability gap
We’re facing a focus crisis 👁️
Because while leaders are firefighting the present…
...the future is quietly being reshaped by those who are not
Here’s the uncomfortable truth:
👉🏼 The companies moving fastest on reinvention are outperforming their peers
👉🏼 Those entering new sectors are more profitable and more confident
👉🏼 And the most “cautious” companies? They’re already falling behind
This is not about doing more
It’s about leading differently.
The best leaders today operate with:
🔍 A microscope for today’s threats
🔭 A telescope for tomorrow’s opportunities
But most are stuck in the microscope
And this is exactly where leadership transitions become make-or-break
Because when leaders step into bigger roles:
the pressure increases
the noise multiplies
- the short-term pulls harder than ever
-
If they don’t consciously redefine how they spend their time and attention, they don’t just slow down…
They become part of the problem they were hired to solve
💡 The real question isn’t:
“Are we investing enough in AI or innovation?”
It’s this:
👉🏼 Are we allocating our leadership attention in a way that enables reinvention?
Because in today’s environment, what you focus on is your strategy
And what you ignore… will define your future
📣 But don't take my word for it. Take it from a recent CEO client of mine:
💬 “I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for your support and coaching in my development as a CEO. Your coaching has helped me to define a clear vision for our company, develop a strategic plan for my team, and enhance my self-awareness substantially.
